Implementing Enterprise 2.0 Using Open Source Products

Enterprise 2.0 is about creating a platform and having a forum which is easy and conducive for greater interaction amongst employees in an enterprise. Technologies like wiki, blog, group messaging and networking software can make a corporate intranet into collaborative platform which reflects the way work really gets done. It is about:

Open source platforms are available for each of the technology elements and they have become sufficiently robust to handle enterprise needs. However, to meet the needs of the enterprise, they need to be integrated. Also the enterprise security and access control requirements have to be incorporated. NIIT Technologies has implemented Enterprise 2.0 technologies by customizing and integrating open source tool like MediaWiki (the engine with runs Wikipedia), WordPress and others. Experienced architects are aware that designing and implementing reusable services is much harder task than implementing services for single use.
